MoveFWD Customer Service Training Program to Begin Oct. 1 at Austin Community College

Scholarships are available to cover full cost; interview and job placement assistance offered upon course completion

(Austin, Texas)—The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority’s (Mobility Authority) MoveFWD Program is offering a training course for job candidates interested in the customer service industry. The 17-day, 100-hour course begins Oct. 1 at Austin Community College’s (ACC) Highland Campus, and scholarships are available to cover the full cost of the course. Upon course completion, job candidates will receive a certificate qualifying them as job-ready. Interview opportunities and job placement assistance will be available with the MoveFWD program’s local employment partner, Cofiroute USA. Cofiroute will take over management of the Mobility Authority’s Pay By Mail program beginning November 30, and is looking for qualified candidates to work in the customer service center.

The Mobility Authority launched MoveFWD, a Workforce Collaborative of Central Texas, last month at the Austin Community College’s Eastview Campus. The unique life skills program combines workforce training, job placement, and social services support to help people who are disadvantaged achieve life-changing, long-term employment, and career-building opportunities in the customer service and roadway construction fields. Candidates are provided job training, as well as social services support such as career counseling, housing, work clothes and transportation assistance.

Anyone interested in the upcoming customer service training program at ACC should visit www.MoveFWDCTX.com/form and fill out the program intake form. They will be contacted by a career manager who will assist them in applying for a scholarship to cover the cost of the training, as well as connect them with any other social services support needed to ensure theyet are in their best position when applying for jobs following course completion. The course begins Oct. 1, and runs throorugh Oct. 23. The course schedule is Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Upon completion of the 100-hour course, candidates will receive a certificate qualifying them as job-ready and setting them apart from the competition.

The target job candidate population for the MoveFWD program and associated training includes veterans, individuals experiencing homelessness and near homelessness, millennials, reentry (ex-offenders), those lacking training, certification, or appropriate education, as well as the under-employed in our community.

Program partners include Austin Community College, City of Austin, Goodwill, Texas Department of Criminal Justice Reentry and Integration, Travis County, and Workforce Solutions. Employement partners include Coloradoro River Constructors, the contractor building the 183 South project in east Austin, and Cofiroute, USA, the toll payment processor for the Mobility Authority’s Pay By Mail program.

Training programs for job candidates interested in the roadway construction industry will be made available later this year.
