Innovative Workforce Development Program Putting Disadvantaged Students to Work in High Demand Jobs

(Austin, Texas)— The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority’s (Mobility Authority) MoveFWD program, in partnership with Austin Community College, is celebrating the graduation of 13 students from a recently created innovative commercial drivers license (CDL) training program.

MoveFWD is a unique life skills program led by the Mobility Authority in collaboration with local non-profits, educational institutions, and government agencies. The program combines workforce training, job placement, and social services support to help people who are disadvantaged achieve life-changing, long-term employment, and career-building opportunities in the roadway construction and customer service fields.

Commercial drivers are in high demand in Central Texas and all of the graduates will be able to put their skills to work almost immediately following graduation. By targeting disadvantaged students with training for high demand careers, the Mobility Authority and its partners are helping to fulfill the agency mission of enhancing economic development and improving the quality of life for individuals.
