Mobility Authority Announces Early Completion of the 290/130 Flyovers Project

Opening This Weekend: Flyover bridge linking eastbound 290 Toll to southbound SH 130 Toll

(Austin, Texas)—The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (Mobility Authority) will open the third and final flyover bridge at the 290 Toll/SH 130 intersection the weekend of Feb. 6*, roughly four months ahead of schedule. Serving drivers traveling eastbound 290 Toll to southbound SH 130, this flyover marks completion of the 290/130 Flyovers Project.

The new flyovers provide drivers safe, efficient, free-flowing direct connections between the two roadways, while also freeing up capacity at the frontage road intersection to benefit drivers who prefer the non-tolled option. It is estimated that the traveling public will save $5 million a year in time as well as fuel and vehicle costs. In addition, the project will improve connectivity for east Travis and Williamson county residents and help attract economic development opportunities to the region.

The Mobility Authority began construction of the 290/130 Flyovers Project in November 2018, in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation.  The contractor, Webber, LLC, was incentivized to complete the project on an accelerated timeline, accounting for the early openings of the first two flyovers. Now the third flyover, a non-tolled connection linking eastbound 290 Toll and southbound SH 130, will also open ahead of schedule this weekend. A flyover already exists to link eastbound 290 Toll to northbound SH 130 and will remain non-tolled.

The two flyovers connecting SH 130 drivers to westbound 290 Toll are tolled. The Mobility Authority accepts any of the following electronic tags: TxTag, TollTag, EZ-Tag, K-TAG, Pikepass, or BancPass. Tag holders save money on toll roads throughout Texas. Drivers with an active electronic tag save 33 percent over drivers billed through the Pay By Mail program.
