183A Phase III Project Environmental Assessment Seeking Community Input at November 14 Open House

(Austin, Texas) – The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (Mobility Authority) is seeking community input on the possible extension of 183A north from Hero Way to north of SH 29 as Phase III of the 183A system. The 6.6-mile proposed tollway will have two tolled lanes in each direction with an option to widen to three lanes in the future. Input from this Open House, which will be held November 14, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Leander VFW 10427 Banquet Hall, will be incorporated into an ongoing environmental study to accommodate forecasted traffic and reduce anticipated congestion along the 183 corridor.

“With unprecedented growth in Williamson County, traffic volumes along US 183 are anticipated to increase by 166 percent over the next 25 years. The 183A Phase III project will satisfy the additional demand for capacity and avoid future traffic congestion,” said Ray A. Wilkerson, chairman of the Mobility Authority Board of Directors. “The Mobility Authority is committed to improving mobility, economic opportunity and quality of life throughout Central Texas, and we rely heavily on the public’s feedback from events such as this Open House to make our projects better.”

Open House attendees will have the opportunity to review information on the proposed project, talk with planners and engineers, ask questions and submit comments. No formal presentations will be given, and attendees are invited to come-and-go at their convenience.

Those unable to attend the Open House can provide input online at a Virtual Open House that will run from Wednesday, November 14 to Friday, November 30 on the project website, www.183a.com.

“Williamson County residents enjoy a high quality of life. I am committed to working with regional partners like the Mobility Authority on projects that preserve that standard,” said Williamson County Commissioner Cynthia Long. “The northern extension of 183A is just that kind of project and I look forward to my constituents having another option to help keep them moving.”

The Mobility Authority works closely with environmental agencies and groups, neighborhood residents and all interested stakeholders to ensure projects are developed in a manner that is consistent with community needs and environmental regulations.
