183 Toll Direct Connectors Open

(Austin, Texas) — The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (Mobility Authority) is completing the phased opening of the 183 Toll Road with the opening of the tolled direct connector flyover ramps between the 183 Toll Road and SH 71. Both the south-to-west and east-to-north flyovers are expected to open as early as Feb. 24, 2021*, marking completion of the final tolled elements of the 183 South project.

Drivers who do not wish to use the toll road and pay a toll can still use the new and improved non-tolled general-purpose lanes of US 183 by following the “Last Free Exit” signs at either end of the 183 Toll Road, or by continuing on the general-purpose lanes and avoiding entrance ramps to the tolled lanes from any point along the corridor.

The toll rate for a full-length trip on the 8-mile 183 Toll Road is $2.30 for drivers with an electronic tag like TxTag, TollTag or EZ-Tag. The cost to use the tolled direct connector flyover ramps between the 183 Toll Road and SH 71 will be an additional $0.59 with a tag. Drivers who do not wish to use the toll road or tolled flyovers can still use the new and improved non-tolled general-purpose lanes of US 183.

TxTag customers should be aware that there could be a delay in billing for tolls on the 183 Toll Road due to ongoing system upgrades at TxTag. For any questions about your electronic tag, please contact your tag provider. For more information on toll rates, how customers can pay their toll bill, and how to save money with an electronic tag, visit our website.

Although opening of the direct connector ramps between US 183 and SH 71 marks completion of the final tolled project elements, drivers should note that there will still be some roadway construction and other project elements to complete over the next several months.
