HERO Program

Hero Service Area Map - Click for Larger map.The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority, in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation, operates the Highway Emergency Response Operator (HERO) Program – a free roadside assistance program that provides aid to stranded motorists, minimizes traffic congestion and improves highway safety along Interstate 35 in Central Texas.

HERO patrols a 55-mile section of IH-35 that runs from the City of Kyle (Yarrington Road) to the City of Georgetown (SH 130 North) and a 12-mile stretch of US 183 between IH-35 and Lakeline Boulevard from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Drivers can call 974-HERO (4376) for assistance with their own vehicle or on behalf of other stranded motorists.

The program is being paid for through a combination of federal and state funds, and it costs roughly $2.3 million a year to provide the service.
