HERO MISSION:

The Mobility Authority is committed to keeping Central Texas moving. And we achieve that by doing far more than building roads—we optimize the use of our current infrastructure where the need is greatest, even when they are not Mobility Authority-owned roads. By allocating resources effectively, we are able to improve mobility on roadways adjacent to the HERO-patrolled roadways as well, keeping the flow of traffic moving smoothly.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

In partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), we operate the Highway Emergency Response Operator (HERO) Program. This free roadside assistance service provides aid to stranded motorists, minimizes traffic delays, and improves highway safety along a 55-mile section of I-35 from the City of Kyle (Yarrington Road) to the City of Georgetown (SH 130 North) and a 12-mile stretch of US 183 between I-35  and Lakeline Boulevard from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday. Just dial  (512) 974-HERO.

HERO Services

Our HEROs patrol I-35 and US 183 from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, and services are free to the traveling public. Just dial (512) 974-HERO. Services include:

"The gas station was so close, but yet it was so far. And then, out of nowhere, comes the HERO Program to save the day!  He gave us gas for free... It was awesome!"

"I was in Austin helping my daughter while her husband was away for military training. When I got a flat tire on I-35 it was upsetting because I was in an unfamiliar place driving my daughter's car. I was having trouble getting through to AAA when Clarence D. Drove up and offered to change my tire. What a blessing he was to me. Thank you HERO Patrol!!"
