Construction Advisory: US 183/183A Intersection Project

Work began the week of November 17, 2014 on the improvement project for the US 183/183A Intersection in Williamson County. The project will entail pavement widening, drainage improvements, signal adjustments and minor new road construction. The improvements will facilitate smoother and safer turning movements and improve access across the southbound lanes. Motorists should be aware that the project will consist of day and night time lane closures during the construction period. The project is expected to be finished in the Fall of 2015.

Week of August 31, 2015

Temporary closures of various lanes on US 183 and 183A are expected over the next several weeks. Closures are expected to follow the schedule below but could change slightly based on each day's progress.

On September 3, the northbound frontage road of 183A will be closed from approximately 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. to complete paving efforts.

Various lane closures are expected on US 183 and 183A from August 31 - September 3, throughout the project limits between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.

The SH 71 Express Project is a planned 3.9-mile limited-access toll road beginning at Presidential Boulevard at Austin Bergstrom International Airport and extending east to SH 130 near Onion Creek.
The project will include two new toll lane overpasses at FM 973 and SH 130.
The project is being constructed by TxDOT, and the Mobility Authority will operate and maintain the facility when finished.
Construction began in early 2015 and we anticipate the road will be open to traffic in late 2016.  For more information about this project click here.

The Bergstrom Expressway (US 183 South) will add three new toll lanes and three improved non-tolled general purpose lanes in each direction along US 183 South from US 290 southerly to SH 71.
The project will improve the existing divided roadway with signalized intersections to a controlled access facility with grade separations and access roads for approximately 8 miles. Construction will begin late 2015 and we anticipate the full project to be open to traffic in 2021. For more information about this project, click here.
