183 South Project: Overnight Detour for Bridge Deconstruction CANCELED Saturday and Sunday
(Austin, Texas) – The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (Mobility Authority) has completed the deconstruction of the Montopolis Drive bridge to northbound US 183 ahead of schedule, and planned overnight detours for Saturday and Sunday nights (6/16 and 6/17) have been canceled.
The bridge deck, beams, and bridge support columns were deconstructed and removed overnight on Friday, June 15. Work remaining includes the deconstruction of the retaining walls, which will be scheduled in the coming week(s). This remaining work will require re-routing southbound traffic over the Montopolis steel truss bridge, but will not require the significant detour that was implemented on Friday night.
The Mobility Authority and the 183 South project team thank the traveling public and our project neighbors for bearing with us during last night's construction activity.

The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority is building a new tolled expressway with three lanes in each direction on an eight-mile section of US 183 between US 290 and SH 71. In addition, the Mobility Authority is reconstructing and improving the non-tolled US 183 general purpose lanes and adding $25 million worth of pedestrian and bicyclist facilities.
