183 South Project: Expansion of FM 969 (MLK Jr., Boulevard Bridge) to Require Temporary Lane Reduction
(Austin, Texas)—The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (Mobility Authority) is implementing a temporary lane reduction on FM 969 (MLK Jr., Blvd) at the bridge across US 183 beginning Monday June 25. This temporary lane reduction is for work associated with widening the FM 969 bridge to three lanes in each direction.
Beginning after 9 am Monday and lasting through Sunday, July 1, capacity on the FM 969 bridge will be temporarily reduced to one lane for eastbound traffic crossing over US 183. The lane reduction will extend from Tannehill Lane across US 183. In addition, one of the dual left turn lanes from southbound US 183 onto eastbound FM 969 will be closed.
Drivers should also take note that overnight closures of the southbound on-ramp to US 183 at FM 969 are scheduled for Monday through Friday, June 25-29, from 8pm to 6am. Drivers will follow a signed detour via Tannehill Lane to TechniCenter Drive to access southbound US 183. Daytime drivers traveling from eastbound FM 969 to southbound US 183 are also encouraged to use this detour to avoid congestion at the FM 969 intersection due to the lane reduction.
